Crucifixion, a sacrifice?

"People talk of the sacrifice of Christ as evidence by His crucifixion. But, he was surrounded and bound, and crowned by the crowd who captured Him with a crown of thorns, and later, nailed to the cross by his captors. A person bound and beaten by the police cannot say that he has sacrificed anything, for, he is not a free man."

  1. The Bible shows that Jesus placed Himself in the position where He would be captured, sent for trial and then crucified. While within the context of His position after He was in the hands of the Romans, it would seem as without choice. The Gospels reveal that Jesus knew of His death beforehand and even rebuked the disciples who suggested that He hide Himself and avoid the crucifixion. But this was done for the sins of the world. A choice and , therefore, a sacrifice.

  2. It wasn't the Vatican that decided the books of the Bible. And the Gospels don't portray Jesus as a forecasting philosopher. And Physics and all scientific laws cannot answer all events - natural or supernatural. We choose to accept or deny what is placed before us and that is what is choice. And the Bible is not based on our meagre understanding of logic or sacrifice.
